Blueface iPhone App

1. What does the Blueface Banter application do?

The Blueface Banter application is a unique application which provides a virtual landline to allow iPhone users to make 'hassle-free', low cost international calls. All you need to do is download the application from the iTunes App Store and follow the sign up instructions. The service uses a PAYG (Pay as you Go) top up system which you can pay on your mobile phone by using your credit card or you can use the Blueface customer portal at www.blueface.ie. We provide a 50 cent credit to new subscribers to trial out the service. You can make a call by pressing the 'call' button in the app and select the person you wish to call from your contact list. A call is made via your mobile to your new local landline which you then answer and it links to the caller abroad at Blueface's low cost international rates.


For those of you who do not have a landline (over 30% of the population), you now have a dedicated landline which you can share with your customers, friends and family.


2. What call rates apply to the Blueface Banter application?

The Blueface Banter service enables you to make low cost international calls with the convenience of using your mobile phone. The call rates which apply to each call includes the Blueface call to your mobile plus the Blueface international call rate for the duration of the call. We recommend this service to be used for international calls. A full list of international call rates are available to view here.


3. Why is it cheaper than other operators?

The Blueface Banter service is cheaper than other operators because you are using Blueface's Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) platform which enables you to pay low cost international call rates, instead of more expensive international rates on your mobile call plan.


4. When should I use the Blueface Banter iPhone application?

The Blueface Banter iPhone app has been developed for those who want a virtual landline and call internationally.


5. Does the Blueface Banter work with all iPhone versions?

The Blueface Banter iPhone application work on iPhones OS 3.1 and higher including the iPhone 4. Overtime, Blueface intend to extend the service to other Apple products as well as other mobile platforms.


6. Can I get a different geographic number from where I live?

In line with local regulations, Blueface provides a geographic number based on your geographic location identified by you as part of the sign-up process. The application is available for download in the Republic of Ireland iTunes store. Irish Geographic numbers only are currently available with this service.


7. What if I don't have an iPhone? Can I use Blueface for low cost international calls?

If you don't have an iPhone, Blueface has an alternative service, Go Mobile. The GoMobile service allows all mobile users to access very low international call rates by calling the Blueface gateway. This service is also available to iPhone users also who do not want to use the Blueface Banter application.


8. I'm an existing customer of Blueface, can I use my existing fixed line number?

As this is a unique service in the marketplace, we recommend the customers use the current geographic provided with the service. Overtime, we will look at incorporating the use of your existing fixed line on the service. However, as a current Blueface customer you can use your Blueface username and password to use the service and use you existing PAYG and subscription plans to make calls.


9. I'm an existing customer of Blueface, can I use my existing call package?

If you are an existing Blueface customer you can use your existing PAYG account and subscription plan to pay for the service, assuming the international destination is included as part of your call plan. Please ensure you have sufficient call credit in your call plan.


10. Can I port an existing landline number to this service?

The customer does have the option of porting their existing PSTN landline number to this service. Any queries regarding porting should be sent to porting@blueface.ie.


11. My call won't connect, what's wrong?
  • Ensure you have sufficient credit in your account to make or receive the call by checking your balance on the iPhone app display or log on to the customer portal at www.blueface.ie
  • Ensure you use the correct number format to make the call abroad. The + number format must be used rather than a '00' format on the Blueface Banter application.
